Lacey’s audio slide show pitch

Your Name: Lacey Mason
Your story format for this assignment:

_____ Text (2 photos and/or graphics)

_____ Video

__xx___ Audio slide show

Your pitch (in one short paragraph):

OLLI, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, operates on UNL campus and is for people who are 50 and over who want to continuing learning and having a community with their peers.  On Saturday, Oct. 23, they are sponsoring a dance for a fundraiser.  Nadine, the office manager at OLLI said they have never done a fundraiser before.  There will be dancing and music from the time participants were in high school and college.  I want to do a story on what the organization is doing, why they need to do a fundraiser and how the organization is enriching the lives of older residents of Lincoln.

Explain why this story is best told using this format.
The story is best told using this format because I will be able to get interesting photos of participants dancing and signing up for the event.  There should be some great audio as well from the 50’s and 60’s music that will be playing at the event.  I think there will be some great opportunities for laughter and chattering in the groups of people.

How will you tell this story visually? Please be specific.

I want to have a lot of pictures of people dancing.  I think that is the key visual element of this story.  There will also be great pictures of people signing up for events or getting refreshments.
List the names and titles of the sources (both those you have talked with already and those you plan to talk to) and describe what role they will play in the story.

So far I have talked to Nadine in the OLLI office and she gave me contact information for Jerry Sellentin, the Advisory Council Chairman, who I have called and left a message with.  I also want to get small audio clips of other participants that will be at the event, whom I have not met yet.
