Your pitch (in one short paragraph): The Texas football game is arguably the most anticipated Husker matchup of the year. With thousands of excited fans and extra media coverage of the game, the scene on campus is sure to be buzz-worthy. I plan to do a story on some of the people who will help direct and control the swells of people, or at least their vehicles. I hope to produce a video story about the parking staff on campus, hoping to discover what their duties are, how they feel about working during athletic events (many of them are surely big Husker fans) and what makes or breaks a game day shift. While this video will be shot on the day of the biggest game of the year, I want to broaden the spectrum of the story to include their year-round duties from painfully hot summer days to the bone-chilling cold of winter nights. In talking with one source, I already know that many of them have lots of interesting stories that happened on the job, so I hope to share one or two of those.

Explain why this story is best told using this format. The video format obviously allows good visual story-telling but it also allows for the story to be told by the staff members themselves, while leaving the option for any needed narration. Thousands of people encounter these employees on football Saturdays and I am hopefully that I can catch some sort of worthwhile interaction between fan and employee on tape.

How will you tell this story visually? Please be specific. Besides capturing interactions between the employees and fans, I hope to get shots of their 6 a.m. meeting, their directing of traffic and any potential interesting situations or conflicts that may arise while I am around. Also, if there are good stories being told, the camera will be able to capture the emotion in the facial expressions and body language of the person telling the story.

List the names and titles of the sources (both those you have talked with already and those you plan to talk to) and describe what role they will play in the story.

Adam Hall is a parking services employee who works all year for the department at a variety of events. He has been working parking for several years and has relayed some interesting stories to me already.

Ron Fuller and Larry Mota are supervisors for the game day parking employees. I hope to shoot them conducting the morning meeting and see what their days include.

Gary Jeune is another longtime employee of the department who works a variety of events throughout the year.
