Your pitch (in one short paragraph): After 10 months of construction, Lincoln will be home to the nation’s second St. Gianna Women’s Home, the other one is located in South Dakota. Basically, the home is an apartment-style building that will house women and children escaping domestic abuse and the pressure to abort. The project is being funded through Catholic Social Services’ “Expanding the Works of Mercy Campaign.” It will take about 3 million to build the home and about 300,000/year to run it. Basically the home will give CSS a new outlet to care for women and children in domestic abuse situations.

Explain why this story is best told using this format.

This story is best told in text format because the whole project is still in the fundraising stages; though CSS projected it will be done in about 10 months. With this in mind, I cannot take pictures or get video of the home or women living and interacting in the home.

How will you tell this story visually? Please be specific.

An article I read about the home and CSS’ ministries included stories of women and children who would benefit from the home. For example, one mother was living with her children in a shed with only a space heater. It would be very visually powerful to describe these women’s living situations and stories. For photos, I want to take portraits of them.

List the names and titles of the sources (both those you have talked with already and those you plan to talk to) and describe what role they will play in the story.
