Pitch: Venrick

Your Name: Elizabeth

Your story format for this assignment:

____ Text (2 photos and/or graphics)

_XXX__ Video

_____ Audio slideshow

Your pitch (in one short paragraph): I’m going to do a video story on Office Woody. He is the security officer at Amigos downtown on Thursday, Friday and Saturday  nights. A certified Lancaster County Sheriff, Officer Woody has been doing the Amigos shift for years and has seen and heard it all from UNL students and Lincoln residents who come to Amigos  after having been to the bars. Anyone who’s ever been downtown and gone to Amigos after hours knows or knows of Officer Woody.

Explain why this story is best told using this format.

This story will be best told via video, because I can capture the patrons at their finest and actual show Officer Woody in uniform, doing his job, in his natural environment.

How will you tell this story visually? Please be specific.

This story will be told by video and will be all visual, which I believe is the best way to show and tell Officer Woody’s job. I can get Officer Woody working, talking. Also, B roll of Amigos workers behind the cashier, and customers eating and interacting with Woody. Possibly (hopefully for the sake of my story), some even acting up and Officer Woody being authoritarian.

List the names and titles of the sources (both those you have talked with already and those you plan to talk to) and describe what role they will play in the story.

I will talk with Officer Woody himself. He will obviously be the main character of the story. Providing anecdotes and insights to his job. By hearing his voice, listeners will get to hear as to how much Officer Woody loves his job and the enjoyment he gets.

I will also talk to Amigos workers, who get to work with Officer Woody. How he protects them and the store.

Also, I’ll get  at customers of Amigos, how they interact with Officer Woody, if they obey his orders, if anyone is getting out of line. How Office Woody treats them, and so on.
